In a tragic incident in Noida, a 23-year-old law student named Tapas reportedly died by suicide after jumping from the seventh floor of an apartment on Saturday. The deceased was pursuing an LLB degree from Amity University and was the son of a Ghaziabad-based advocate.
The Noida police launched an investigation into the case, revealing that Tapas took the drastic step after failing to reconcile with his former girlfriend, who was also his classmate. According to the investigation, Tapas and his ex-girlfriend had been in a relationship for some time and were living together. However, the relationship soured, and the woman decided to end it, while Tapas sought to rekindle their romance.
On the day of the incident, Tapas was visiting a friend’s apartment at Supreme Towers in Sector 99, Noida. His friends, aware of his distress, invited his ex-girlfriend to the gathering in an attempt to convince her to patch things up with him. However, she refused to reconcile, leading to a heated argument. In a moment of despair, Tapas allegedly jumped from the seventh floor of the building.
Following the incident, Tapas’s family filed a police complaint, accusing the woman of harassment and holding her responsible for their son’s death. The police subsequently registered a case of abetment to suicide and arrested the ex-girlfriend. She was produced in court, where she was granted bail.
The court, while granting bail, stated that the actions of the woman did not constitute abetment to suicide. Meanwhile, the Noida police continue to investigate the incident, questioning Tapas’s friends and exploring all angles of the case.
