Meet Young Brigade of the New Lok Sabha, 4 Of Them All of 25

After the Lok Sabha elections, the results of which were announced yesterday, at least four candidates are expected to become the youngest members of Parliament (MPs), with an age of 25. The Samajwadi Party fielded Pushpendra Saroj and Priya Saroj, while the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and the Congress fielded Shambhavi Choudhary and Sanjana Jatav, respectively.

    Shambhavi Choudhary

The Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary, a member of the Nitish Kumar cabinet, is her father.

She emerged victorious from the Samastipur constituency, outlasting her closest opponent, Congressman Sunny Hazari, by a comfortable margin. Maheshwar Hazari, a minister for JD(U), is the father of Sunny Hazari.

At a campaign rally earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Shambhavi for being the youngest candidate in the NDA.

    Sanjana Jatav

From Rajasthan’s Bharatpur constituency, Sanjana Jatav emerged victorious. By a margin of 51,983 votes, the 25-year-old defeated Ramswaroop Koli of the BJP.

She had also competed in the 2023 Assembly elections, but was defeated by Ramesh Khedi of the BJP by a mere 409 votes. Sanjana is wed to Kaptan Singh, a police constable from Rajasthan.

    Pushpendra Saroj

As an SP candidate running for the parliamentary seat held by the BJP in Kaushambi, Pushpendra Saroj made his political debut. By a margin of 103,944 votes, he defeated Vinod Kumar Sonkar, the current BJP MP.

Pushpendra is the son of Inderjit Saroj, a former minister of Uttar Pradesh and five-time MLA.

    Priya Saroj
Priya Saroj won from the Machhlishahr seat by a margin of 35,850 votes. She had been paired with Bholanath, a current member of the BJP. Priya is the daughter of three-time MP Toofani Saroj.
