Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called up Sandeskhali victim and now the BJP candidate for the Basirhat Lok Sabha seat Rekha Patra to inquire about her election preparations.
During his phone chat with Rekha Patra, the Prime Minister referred to her as an embodiment of Shakti and inquired about the general sentiment of the populace. Patra informed the Prime Minister of the hardships faced by the islanders, who claim that Trinamool Congress leaders have harassed them.

Addressing her in Bengali, the Prime Minister addressed Patra and informed her that she had taken on a great deal of responsibility. He “is like a God” to the women of Sandeshkhali, Patra told him . “We have the feeling that Ram ji is with us,” she stated.

He then asked her how the people of Sandeshkhali responded to her choice as the BJP’s candidate. She said some women on the island had held protests after she was chosen as the candidate. “They have sent a message to us and said they did everything on the Trinamool’s instructions and promised they won’t repeat this. There is no enmity. We will work for anyone,” she said.

“From 2011, we could not vote here. We want proper security so that we can cast our votes. We are thankful for your support,” she added.
