Video Goes Viral From Kejriwal’s Home In Swati Maliwal Row

AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal who has accused party boss Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar of assault on her at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence in the city’s Civil Lines – has reacted to an about one minute mobile phone recording shared on Friday afternoon. In the video in which she is seen (briefly) arguing and shouting at security officials who told her to leave the place.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ms Maliwal also referred to a “political hitman” – a remark seen by many aimed at Arvind Kejriwal – and claimed the “hitman” had ordered “his people” to share the video in question to start a narrative to defend the party and “save himself (after) committing this crime.”

“Who makes a video of someone being beaten up? The truth will be seen when the CCTV footage of the house and room is checked,” Ms Maliwal said.

“Fall to whatever level you want… God is watching. One day, the truth will be revealed.”

At the time the relationship between AAP and Ms Swati Maliwal seem to be at its nadir, the party shared a news clip of the video with the message, “The truth of Swati Maliwal.”

One of the guards says, “Yes, you can… it is your headache…” and is then interrupted by Swati Maliwal, who then says, “You will let me talk to the DCP right now.”

Delhi Police said on Monday that it had received two calls from inside Mr. Kejriwal’s home. The police department has opened a case against Bibhav Kumar on the basis of a statement given by Ms. Maliwal. Although the caller did not provide their identity, the police stated that the phone number belonged to Ms. Maliwal.

The video ends with Ms. Maliwal, who was not in contact with anyone until late last night when she met with a police team to record her statement, daring the guards to physically eject her.

She appears to curse one of the officers as well, which prompts a reprimand. As the guard replies, “Madam, you cannot speak like this,” Ms. Maliwal counters, “Just because you have a CCTV camera…”

After reacting to the video, she has also hit out at critics who have said that her claims were being orchestrated by “the other party.”

Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, AAP’s Sanjay Singh and other leaders of the party have said that they always stand with women, irrespective of which party they belong to.
