Vastu expert Khushdeep Bansal caught the nation’s fancy in 1997 when he asserted that “architectural defects” in the Parliament House library were the reason governments fell. His name has surfaced once more almost thirty years later, this time in relation to a significant fraud involving ₹ 65 crore.
An Assam Police and Delhi Police joint team arrested Khushdeep Bansal and his brother in Delhi on Monday. The arrest involved the Delhi Police Special Cell’s Counter Intelligence Unit (CI).

Both were brought to Assam almost immediately, where they are accused of being involved in the ₹ 65 crore Autonomous Council scam. The Madhya Pradesh-based Congress leader’s son is involved in the scam.

The proprietor of the Sabarwal Trading Company, situated in Delhi, Kamal Sabarwal, lodged a grievance against Bansal. All that Bansal had done, according to reports from the Delhi Police, was to introduce someone to Kamal Sabarwal. At the same time, Assam Police assert that all of the accused were involved in planning the complex scam that is currently in the public eye.

He became well-known in 1997 when he said that political instability was being caused by the Parliament House library’s architectural flaws. “Restoring balance” and allowing governments to serve out their terms without having to deal with early collapses was the solution, he claimed, and it involved burying copper wires between the Parliament and the library building.
