Days after the shocking Meerut Merchant Nay murder case, another disturbing incident has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda. A woman allegedly threatened to kill her husband and mutilate his body for objecting to her alleged extramarital affair. She also reportedly issued threats against his mother.
The incident came to light after complaints were filed by both parties, and a video of the couple’s violent altercation went viral on social media. In the footage, the woman can be seen attacking her husband with what appears to be a stick or a wiper.
Police officials have stated that an investigation is underway and assured appropriate action. They also noted that legal disputes between the husband and wife are ongoing in court.
The complainant, Dharmendra Kushwaha, originally from Jhansi and currently employed with Jal Nigam in Gonda, has accused his wife, Maya Maurya, and her alleged lover, Neeraj Maurya, of assault and issuing death threats.
Kushwaha stated that he married Maya in 2016 in a love marriage. Following the birth of their daughter, he purchased three four-wheelers in her name and continued to pay the installments. In 2022, he bought land in her name and entrusted its construction work to her relative, Neeraj Maurya.
During this period, Maya allegedly grew close to Neeraj, and their relationship deepened after Neeraj lost his wife to COVID-19. Kushwaha claimed that on July 7, 2024, he caught Maya and Neeraj in a compromising situation. When he objected, he was allegedly beaten, and Maya left their home.
According to Kushwaha, Maya later returned with Neeraj on August 25, 2024, forcibly breaking into the house before fleeing with 15 grams of gold and cash. He filed a complaint regarding this incident on September 1, 2024.
On March 29, 2025, matters escalated further when Maya allegedly threatened to kill Kushwaha’s mother. When he intervened, both he and his mother were reportedly assaulted by Maya and Neeraj. Kushwaha stated in his complaint that during the altercation, Maya threatened, “If you talk too much, I will have you chopped and packed in a drum like the Meerut massacre.”
Meanwhile, Maya has dismissed her husband’s claims as false. She alleged that Kushwaha had subjected her to harassment and forced her to undergo four abortions. Maya stated in her complaint that after a dispute in July 2024, she had filed a report at the women’s police station. She further accused Kushwaha of subsequently filing for divorce and evicting her from the house.
The police are currently investigating the matter, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
