Trump Agrees to Debate Kamala Harris on Fox News in September

Former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced on Friday that he has agreed to a debate with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. The debate, scheduled for September 4, will be hosted by Fox News in Pennsylvania, with the exact location yet to be determined.

“I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th. The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest,” Trump stated on his Truth Social platform.

The debate will be moderated by Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Trump emphasized that the rules will be similar to his previous debates with President Joe Biden but with the addition of a full arena audience.

Vice President Harris had indicated last month her readiness for a debate after Fox News proposed the event for September 17. Following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race on July 21 and his endorsement of Harris, Trump initially refused to debate her, arguing she was not the official candidate at that time.

The Trump Campaign issued a scathing critique of Harris on Friday, calling her “the least popular vice president in modern US history” and criticizing the Democratic Party’s process of nominating her. “Kamala Harris — the least popular vice president in modern US history — has just officially been installed as the presumptive Democrat nominee for president without a single vote cast in her name,” read the campaign’s statement.

The Trump Campaign further alleged that the Democratic Party’s process of nominating Harris resembled undemocratic practices, saying, “In a process more reminiscent of communist China, Democrat elites deposed their previous nominee when their coverup of his decline was no longer tenable, then coronated Kamala in the least democratic way possible.”

These remarks came shortly after Harris was confirmed as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the upcoming November 5th general elections. The Trump Campaign concluded its statement by asserting that “Democrats are the real threat to democracy.”
