Alex Bruesewitz, an advisor to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, collapsed on stage while speaking at a Young Republican Club gala on Sunday night. The incident occurred as Bruesewitz was introducing Dan Scavino, the incoming White House senior aide.
Witnesses reported that Bruesewitz began slurring his words before suddenly fainting in front of a packed audience. Videos of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing attendees rushing to assist him.
While official updates on his medical condition remain pending, Raheem Kassam, a former aide to British conservative politician Nigel Farage, assured reporters that Bruesewitz is recovering. Speaking to The New York Post, Kassam relayed a humorous exchange with Bruesewitz. “I talked to our friend Alex Bruesewitz, and you know what he said to me? He goes, ‘Did I at least look cool?’ I said, ‘Alex, you used gravity like I’ve seen nobody use gravity before in their lives.’”
President-elect Trump also extended his well-wishes to Bruesewitz. In remarks quoted by the Post, Trump expressed confidence in his advisor’s resilience. “I know that Alex is going to be fine because he’s a tough son of a gun. There’s no doubt about that. So I want to say hello to Alex because he’s a very special guy,” Trump reportedly said over the phone.
The cause of Bruesewitz’s collapse has not been disclosed, but his remarks to Kassam suggest he remains in good spirits.
