Top Jaish Leader Killed in Kathua Encounter Found with Pakistan Army Satellite Device

A top commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist organization was among two militants killed by security forces during an intense encounter in a village near the International Border (IB) in Kathua district, sources revealed on Friday.

The slain JeM commander, identified as Rihaan, and his personal security officer (PSO) were reportedly eliminated after a fierce gunfight. Rihaan was found in possession of an M4 rifle equipped with a night scope and a sophisticated frequency satellite communication device. Sources disclosed that the communication device used by Rihaan is typically procured for the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force, raising suspicions about the involvement of the Pakistan Army in facilitating the militants.

This encounter is part of a recent surge in terrorist activity across the region, with four separate attacks occurring in the Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts over the past week. These attacks have claimed the lives of 11 individuals, including a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, and resulted in the deaths of two terrorists.

Intelligence sources indicated that the top leadership of JeM and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen convened in Rawalakot, Pakistan, following the June 9 terror attack in Reasi. During this meeting, Jaish commander Rezak and Hizbul deputy commander Khalid reportedly called for intensified attacks against India.

In response to these developments, a search and cordon operation has been initiated in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector in Rajouri district following reports of suspicious movement. Security forces across the region have been placed on high alert, particularly in the Poonch and Rajouri districts, which have experienced a notable increase in terrorist activities over the past two years.
