Late night on January 6, the MCD carried out an anti-encroachment drive near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque and a cemetery close to Ramlila Maidan, following Delhi High Court orders. Using 17 bulldozers, authorities demolished a banquet hall, diagnostic centre, and shops. During the operation at Turkman Gate, the crowd reportedly pelted stones at officials and police.
