School Bomb hoax: Delhi Police Traces IP Address To Budapest

It is believed that Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is the source of the bomb threat emails that about 150 schools in the Delhi-NCR received early this month, Delhi Police officials said on Tuesday.
An official stated that the IP address associated with these emails was found in Budapest, and Delhi Police will shortly be getting in touch with their Hungarian counterpart to conduct additional research.

Every device connected to the internet is given a unique identifying number known as an IP (internet protocol) address.

According to emails allegedly sent from a mail.ru server, explosives were planted on the school grounds, leading to widespread searches and evacuations on May 1 as terrified parents hurried to pick up their kids.

The security establishment later declared the threat that raised alarms to be a hoax, since nothing objectionable was discovered on the school campuses.

Following the filing of a formal complaint, the police used Interpol to write to the Russian mailing service provider “mail.ru.”

In addition to examining the sender and place of origin of the emails, the police were also looking into the IP address that was used to send them in an effort to piece together the plan and motivation behind the bomb hoax that caused panic in the Delhi-NCR area on Wednesday.
