SC Lambasts Ranveer Allahbadia But Gives Him Relief From Multiple FIRs

The Supreme Court strongly criticized YouTube personality Ranveer Allahbadia on Tuesday for making offensive comments during an appearance on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent show. The court described his behavior as unacceptable, stating that it should be condemned. Justices noted that Allahbadia seemed to have a “very dirty” mindset, which he expressed on the show.

The court remarked, “Such behavior must be condemned. Just because you are popular doesn’t give you the right to take society for granted. Is there anyone who would appreciate this language? It reflects something very dirty in his mind that was vomited out. Why should we protect him?”

Ranveer Allahbadia had approached the Supreme Court seeking relief from multiple FIRs filed over his allegedly inappropriate comments and also requested that all these cases be consolidated.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh heard the petition. While the court provided temporary relief by protecting him from arrest, it also issued a ban on him from airing further YouTube shows. Justice Kant described Allahbadia’s remarks as indicative of a “perverted mind,” adding that they would make parents and sisters ashamed, and would deeply embarrass society.

The Supreme Court also directed Allahbadia to submit his passport and refrained from leaving the country without prior permission. It further stated that if any new FIR was registered in Jaipur based on the same allegations, his arrest would remain stayed. “He must deposit his passport at the Thane police station and may not leave the country without court approval,” said Justice Kant.
