Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has reportedly received a new death threat amid ongoing intimidation linked to the gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. A message issued to Mumbai’s traffic control room on Friday warned that Khan must either apologize at a temple significant to the Bishnoi community or pay a sum of Rs 5 crore to avoid harm. The message, allegedly sent by someone claiming to be Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, threatens Khan’s life if he fails to comply.
According to the threat message, the sender claimed, “If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our [Bishnoi community] temple and apologize or pay Rs 5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active.” Law enforcement officials are treating the message with seriousness, ramping up the actor’s already heightened security amid these continued threats.
This latest message comes amid a long-standing feud between Khan and the Bishnoi community, led by Lawrence Bishnoi, who has a history of targeting the actor over a blackbuck poaching incident that dates back to 1998. During the filming of Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Khan, along with Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, and Sonali Bendre, was accused of poaching blackbucks, a species considered sacred by the Bishnoi community. The 26-year-long legal battle led to multiple arrests and bails for Khan, despite his insistence on innocence. Although he admitted to crossing paths with a herd of blackbucks, he denied any wrongdoing.
Following multiple threats and recent attacks on his residence, Khan’s security measures have been significantly increased by Mumbai Police. Further escalation came after his friend and politician Baba Siddique was murdered last month, adding another layer of tension to Khan’s already precarious safety situation.
The Mumbai Police are investigating the source of this latest threat. Khan has not yet responded publicly, but his team and law enforcement are expected to maintain stringent security protocols in light of these developments.
