Rupali Ganguly’s Stepdaughter Esha Slams Defamation Suit: Calls It ‘Cruel’ and ‘Disturbing’

Esha Verma, stepdaughter of actress Rupali Ganguly, has responded to the Rs 50 crore defamation notice reportedly sent by Ganguly. In an Instagram Story, Esha described the notice as “disturbing, cruel, and a reflection of their true character,” while also addressing controversies surrounding her family.

Esha revealed that speaking up about her experiences was a pivotal moment in her life. “Speaking up was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it also became a turning point in my life. It brought clarity, peace, and liberation from years of silence,” she wrote. She emphasized that her intention was not to cause harm but to shed light on her struggles over the past 24 years. “My intention was never to cause harm but to shed light on experiences that shaped me,” Esha stated.

Esha expressed disappointment in how her father, Ashwin Verma, and Rupali Ganguly handled the situation. She underscored that children should not be penalized for sharing their experiences. “A child should not be punished for speaking their truth. Despite being a young adult, I am still my father’s child. Their response to my statement was disturbing, cruel, and displayed their true character,” she said.

Esha also addressed allegations that she involved Ganguly’s 11-year-old son, Rudransh, in her statements. She clarified that she never made derogatory remarks about the minor and only shared verified details. “I never involved a minor in my statements. What I shared was factual: I learned of a marriage that took place on February 6, 2013, and later discovered on August 25 of the same year that they had a child. Any additional interpretations published in the media were made without my input or consent,” Esha explained, thanking those who supported her during this time.

Earlier this week, Rupali Ganguly’s lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, clarified the actress’s decision to send a defamation notice. Khan alleged that Esha maliciously referred to Ganguly’s son as illegitimate, prompting the legal action. “Rupali decided to take this drastic step when her stepdaughter maliciously labelled her 11-year-old child as illegitimate and the matter escalated with continuous and constant defamatory and derogatory posts thereby character assassinating Rupali,” the lawyer told News18.

Esha concluded her statement by asserting her right to speak about her experiences and reiterated that her remarks were carefully made to avoid harm while addressing her own truth.
