PM Modi to Attend Special Screening of The Sabarmati Report in Parliament Complex Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other parliamentarians, is set to attend a special screening of the film The Sabarmati Report at 4 pm today in the Balyogi Auditorium of the Parliament Complex’s Library.

The film, directed by Dheeraj Sarna, delves into the 2002 Godhra train tragedy and its aftermath, with Vikrant Massey playing the lead role. It has already garnered significant attention, especially from the ruling BJP, which has praised the movie for its portrayal of the incident.

PM Modi, in his social media post, lauded the film for “revealing the truth” behind the tragic event and countering what he referred to as “fake narratives” surrounding the incident. “It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period. Eventually, the facts will always come out!” he said, reposting the movie’s trailer on X (formerly Twitter).

The film has been declared tax-free in seven BJP-ruled states, including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Odisha. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the tax exemption after attending a special screening in Lucknow, accompanied by the film’s cast. Actor Vikrant Massey expressed gratitude, saying, “This is an important film, and I appeal to everyone to go and watch it.”

Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan, the movie also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra. It has sparked discussions across political circles for its sensitive depiction of the events surrounding the Godhra tragedy, a subject that continues to hold political and social significance in India.
