As trends indicate the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is facing a significant defeat in Delhi at the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took a jibe at the infighting within the opposition INDIA bloc.
Abdullah, a senior leader of the National Conference, sarcastically commented on the ongoing friction between the AAP and Congress, posting on social media, “Go on, fight among yourselves,” along with a GIF reading, “Finish off each other.”
This comes after Abdullah previously expressed skepticism about the viability of the INDIA bloc, asserting that if the alliance was solely for parliamentary elections without clear leadership and direction, it should be dissolved.
The AAP and Congress had allied for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Delhi but failed to prevent the BJP from winning all seven parliamentary seats. The lack of coordination between the two parties persisted post-elections, preventing any consensus for further collaboration. Meanwhile, the BJP capitalized on the opposition’s disarray, securing victory in Delhi and winning Haryana for the third consecutive time.
The rift within the opposition alliance has raised concerns about its ability to present a united front against the BJP in future elections. Abdullah’s remarks underscore the growing frustration among regional leaders over the lack of coherence in the INDIA bloc’s strategy.
