Actor Naga Chaitanya has spoken out in defense of his wife, Sobhita Dhulipala, after she faced online trolling over his divorce from actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. In a recent interview on the Raw Talks With VK podcast, Chaitanya addressed the backlash Sobhita received and clarified that she had no connection to his past marriage.
Chaitanya and Samantha, who tied the knot in 2017, announced their separation in 2021. In 2024, Chaitanya married Sobhita Dhulipala. As the couple celebrated their wedding festivities, a section of social media users, particularly fans of Samantha, blamed Sobhita for their divorce. Responding to the criticism, Chaitanya praised Sobhita for her patience and maturity in handling the situation.
“I feel very bad for her (Sobhita). She doesn’t deserve it. She is not at fault in this matter. She came into my life… we met in a very organic way, a beautiful way. Just like social media chat on Instagram, our friendship started and our relationship was slowly built from there,” Chaitanya shared.
Clarifying that Sobhita was not responsible for his separation from Samantha, he further stated, “She has not been connected to my past in any way at all… I feel very bad for her, but at the same time, I have to thank her very much. She’s very understanding and patient. With so much maturity, she navigated through all this. She is, in fact, a true hero for me in so many ways. To face this is not easy.”
Discussing his divorce from Samantha, Chaitanya emphasized that it was a well-thought-out and mutual decision taken with respect and consideration. “It was for the betterment of whoever was involved in the marriage. Whatever the decision was, it was a very conscious one, after much thought and with a lot of respect for the other person. I’m saying this because it’s a very sensitive topic for me. I come from a broken family. I’m a child from a broken family, so I know what the experience is like. I will think a thousand times before breaking a relationship because I know the repercussions… It was a mutual decision,” he explained.
While admitting that divorce is never easy, Chaitanya maintained that he and Samantha have moved on. “It’s not like it happened overnight for me to feel down. I feel bad that it happened, but everything happens for a reason. You build yourself, you keep progressing, and you will find the right path soon. That’s happened to me,” he stated.
Chaitanya expressed gratitude for having found love again and reassured that both he and Samantha have moved forward in their respective lives. His remarks aim to put an end to speculation and defend Sobhita from unwarranted trolling.
