Mumbai Man Stabs Wife and Son Over Delayed Birthday Cake

A 45-year-old man, Rajendra Shinde, allegedly stabbed his wife and son in Mumbai’s Sakinaka area over a delay in bringing a birthday cake.

Rajendra Shinde’s birthday was on Saturday, June 1. However, his wife, Ranjana Shinde, who works as a domestic help, could only bring the cake home at 12:15 PM the next day due to work commitments. This delay led to a heated argument where Rajendra Shinde verbally abused his wife. When their son tried to intervene, Rajendra Shinde, in a fit of rage, picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed his son below the ribs and in the chest. When Ranjana tried to protect her son, she was stabbed in the wrist.

Both were injured and neighbors rushed them to a nearby hospital. Ranjana was treated and released, while their son is still receiving treatment at Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar. Rajendra Shinde fled the scene and is currently absconding.

On Ranjana’s complaint, the police have registered a case against Rajendra Shinde under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and are actively searching for him.
