Mukhtar Ansari died on cardiac arrest: autopsy report

Chandigarh: Mukhtar Ansari, a former gangster who became a politician, passed away on Thursday in a Banda, Uttar Pradesh, hospital from cardiac arrest. After complaining of vomiting, Mukhtar Ansari was taken in “an unconscious state” from the district jail to the city’s Rani Durgavati Medical College. Nine doctors treated him, according to a medical bulletin, but the post mortem report states that he died from cardiac arrest.

At the Ghazipur cemetery known as Kali Bagh, funeral preparations are in progress for Mukhtar Ansari, a former gangster who is now a politician. Following a post-mortem, his son Umar Ansari received his body.

Uttar Pradesh’s security has been stepped up in the wake of Mukhtar Ansari’s passing. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) prohibits large gatherings, and the Uttar Pradesh government has enforced prohibitory orders throughout the state. Extra security guards have been stationed in the districts of Banda, Mau, Ghazipur, and Varanasi.
Following the complaint of abdominal pain on Tuesday, Mukhtar Ansari spent approximately 14 hours in the hospital. The gangster-turned-politician’s family claims the 63-year-old was “slow-poisoned” by something mixed into the food he was fed while incarcerated in Banda.

The sixty-three-year-old Mukhtar Ansari served as a Mau Sadar MLA five times between 1996 and 2022. He was nominated twice by the Bahujan Samaj Party, twice by the Independent Party, and once by Quami Ekta Dal.
Since 2005, the gangster-turned-politician has been imprisoned in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. There were more than sixty active criminal cases against him.
Since September 2022, Mukhtar Ansari has been found guilty in eight cases by various Uttar Pradesh courts and has been detained at the Banda jail. His name was included in the Uttar Pradesh Police’s list of 66 gangsters from the previous year.
