Gurucharan Singh, the beloved actor known for his role as Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), has returned home safely after being reported missing since April 22, 2024. Singh’s unexpected disappearance had sparked concern among fans and his family, leading to an extensive search by Delhi Police.
Singh, 50, who was last seen on April 22 when he was supposed to catch a flight from Delhi to Mumbai, did not arrive at the airport. His father filed a missing person’s report four days later, highlighting that Singh’s phone was unreachable and affirming that he was mentally stable. The police, taking immediate action, initiated a search operation that included visiting the TMKOC sets and interviewing his former co-stars.
On Friday, Singh was found and returned to his home in Delhi. During an interrogation by Delhi Police, it was revealed that he had embarked on a religious journey, visiting several Gurudwaras in cities such as Amritsar and Ludhiana. Singh later realized the distress his absence had caused and decided to return home.
An insider close to the production of TMKOC dispelled rumors about financial disputes between Singh and the production house, confirming that all payments to Singh had been settled long ago. The insider mentioned, “The police found that the payment of the actor was cleared long ago. The actors and the production team have cooperated fully with the investigation.”
Singh, who portrayed the fun-loving and expressive Roshan Singh Sodhi, was a founding cast member of TMKOC. After leaving the show in 2013, he returned the following year due to popular demand. He exited the show again in 2020 and was replaced by Balwinder Singh Suri. Singh has previously addressed his departure, stating his desire to move forward with love and respect, without delving into specific reasons.
