Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, took a swipe at Congress, her ally in India, on Friday, stating that she doubted the party’s ability to win even 40 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The chief of the Trinamool Congress, who dealt a serious blow to the opposition alliance, announced a few days prior that she would run for all 42 seats in her state in the general elections.

“I doubt if you (Congress) will win 40. I was offering two seats and would have let them win. But they wanted more. I said okay, contest on all 42 then. Rejected! There has been no conversation with them since,” ANI quoted Banerjee as saying.

She expressed her disappointment with Congress-led Bharat jodo Nyaya Yatra , saying, “They have come to do a programme in Bengal but did not even inform me as an INDIA bloc member. In order to ask that the rally be permitted to pass through, they had called Derek.”

Mamata Banerjee has also challenged the Congress saiyng “If you have the courage, defeat the BJP in UP, Banaras, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh”.
