Kim Jong Un Preparing Daughter Kim Ju Ae as ‘Successor’ Amid Health Concerns: Reports

In a significant development, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is reportedly grooming his teenage daughter, Kim Ju Ae, as his successor, according to recent South Korean intelligence briefings. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) has indicated that Kim Ju Ae, speculated to be around 12 years old, is being trained to assume the country’s leadership, continuing the Kim family’s dynastic rule.

South Korean MP Lee Seong-kweun, following a briefing from the NIS, revealed that Pyongyang is positioning Kim Ju Ae as the heir apparent. This revelation aligns with her increasing presence at public events, especially those related to military activities. Notably, more than half of her public appearances have involved overseeing military drills, underscoring her preparation for a leadership role.

State media in North Korea have referred to Kim Ju Ae as a “great person of guidance,” a title typically reserved for leaders and potential successors. This further fuels speculation about her future role in the regime. The NIS has also noted that the North Korean regime is closely monitoring public reactions to her role, adjusting her exposure to ensure a smooth transition of power when the time comes.

Concerns about Kim Jong Un’s health have added urgency to the succession planning. Weighing approximately 140 kg, Kim Jong Un is reportedly at high risk for heart-related illnesses, a condition exacerbated by his family’s history of heart problems. Both his father, Kim Jong Il, and grandfather, Kim Il Sung, succumbed to heart issues. Reports suggest that Kim Jong Un has exhibited symptoms of high blood pressure and diabetes since his early 30s, and there are indications that North Korea is seeking Western medicine to address these health issues.

While Kim Ju Ae is currently seen as the primary candidate for succession, the NIS has not ruled out the possibility of another sibling emerging as a potential alternative. It is believed that Kim Jong Un and his wife, Ri Sol Ju, have three children — two daughters and a son — though this has never been officially confirmed by North Korean authorities.
