Judge Demanded ₹5 Lakh for Settlement, Says Atul Subhash’s Father; Calls Son ‘Broken Inside’

Days after 34-year-old Atul Subhash, a tech professional from Bengaluru, died by suicide, his grieving father, Pawan Kumar, has revealed that his son was deeply distressed by multiple cases filed against him, as well as alleged corruption within the legal system. The incident has sparked nationwide outrage, with demands for a thorough investigation.

In a statement to ANI, Pawan Kumar said his son felt “broken from inside” and cited a 90-minute video left by Atul, in which he accused a judge of demanding a bribe of ₹5 lakh to settle his case.

“My son used to say that there is a lot of corruption, but he would fight as he was on the path of truth. However, he didn’t share his inner turmoil with anyone,” Pawan Kumar said.

The deceased techie’s father also blamed Atul’s wife, Nikita Singhania, for initiating a string of legal battles against their family. According to Kumar, the disputes began in January 2021 when Nikita left their home with their one-year-old son. Atul initially believed she had gone to stay with her family during the pandemic, but the situation escalated when she filed multiple cases, reportedly targeting Atul and his family members.

“The mediation process started with ₹20,000 and later increased to ₹40,000. Ultimately, the judge told him that he would need to pay ₹5 lakh for a settlement,” Kumar alleged, calling for action against those involved.

Atul’s brother also expressed shock and sorrow, claiming that the family had no warning signs about his drastic decision. “We talked to him as usual. None of us, including his friends, had any idea he was contemplating such a step,” the brother said.

He further accused the system of mental harassment and false cases against their family. “The same false cases were filed against me and my parents. My brother was mentally tortured. Action must be taken against everyone responsible for his suffering,” he added.
