Jaishankar: India is One of the Few Countries Capable of Engaging Both Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Iran

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized on Saturday that India is uniquely positioned to engage with a diverse range of global players, including both Russia and Ukraine, as well as Israel and Iran, despite the ongoing geopolitical complexities. Speaking at the Business Today Mindrush 2025 event, Jaishankar highlighted that India’s approach to foreign policy, rooted in the principle of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’ (together with all, development for all), is more relevant than ever in today’s polarized global environment.

Jaishankar stated, “In this polarized era, India is one of the few countries that can engage with both Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Iran, as well as play an active role in the Quad and BRICS. Our foreign policy is guided by the principles of inclusivity and mutual development. The mantra of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’ applies not only to our domestic policies but to how we engage with the world on the global stage.”

This statement underscores India’s diplomatic strategy of maintaining balanced and constructive relations with countries that often find themselves on opposing sides of major international issues. By fostering relationships across these divides, India has positioned itself as a key player in navigating the current global challenges, promoting dialogue, and encouraging cooperation among nations with differing political and ideological stances.

Jaishankar’s remarks also reflect India’s broader vision of inclusive and multilateral diplomacy, where the goal is to promote peace, stability, and development through engagement with all global stakeholders, regardless of their regional or ideological differences. He further reinforced that India’s foreign policy remains rooted in its traditional values of non-alignment, strategic autonomy, and a commitment to peace and mutual growth.

This ability to engage constructively with a wide spectrum of countries, even in a polarized world, speaks to India’s growing influence on the global stage, with a focus on fostering partnerships that promote shared prosperity and security for all.
