10 Flights To Bengaluru Diverted To Chennai Due To Heavy Downpour

Due to heavy rainfall in Bengaluru, at least 10 flights bound for the city have been diverted to Chennai, according to airport officials.

IndiGo Airlines posted on X, noting that adverse weather conditions in Bengaluru continue to affect flights. “We are closely monitoring the weather and will provide timely updates. We encourage passengers to check their flight status for real-time information. If needed, flexible rebooking options or refunds are available through our website,” the airline said. IndiGo assured passengers that its teams are working to resume smooth operations once the weather conditions improve.

Air India also reported disruptions in flight operations due to the adverse weather, which has caused air traffic congestion in Bengaluru. “We advise all passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport,” the airline, owned by the Tata Group, posted on X.

Meanwhile, heavy rain has caused flooding on some roads in Bengaluru, leading to traffic jams in key areas, as shared by residents on social media. The city’s traffic police also issued a warning about significant congestion on the route to the airport. “Due to heavy waterlogging at Hunsmaranahalli, there is severe traffic congestion affecting the route to the International Airport,” the police said.

Bengaluru, which is prone to long traffic jams, is seeing worsened conditions as the heavy rains persist.
