The Supreme Court has deferred hearing on the petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Wakf (Amendment) Act. The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing of the case on 15th May before Justice BR Gavai. BR Gavai will be the next Chief Justice of the country. As such, the petition will now be placed before him. The current CJI Justice Sanjiv Khanna is retiring on 13th May.
