Former PA of Kejriwal Bibhav Kumar Arrested From CM House in Swati Maliwal Assault Case

Bibhav Kumar, the former personal secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was arrested\ on Saturday by Delhi police in connection with the alleged assault on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal. The incident reportedly took place at Kejriwal’s residence on May 14.

According to Maliwal’s complaint, Kumar attacked her with “full force,” slapping and kicking her in the chest and abdomen multiple times. Maliwal alleged that despite informing Kumar she was menstruating and in significant pain, he continued the assault.

Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), confirmed Kumar’s detention, describing it as an ‘arrest’ from Kejriwal’s home. Sharma highlighted the severity of the situation in a post on social media platform X, stating, “Delhi CM’s aide Bibhav Kumar got arrested from his house. So CM was giving shelter to alleged criminal.”

As part of the ongoing investigation, Delhi police escorted Maliwal to the Chief Minister’s residence on Friday to recreate the crime scene. An official reported that her statement was also recorded before a magistrate at the Tis Hazari court.

The First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Maliwal details the alleged attack, stating that Kumar hit her “with full force again and again” and that she was “kicked and slapped seven to eight times.” The police are continuing their investigation to corroborate the details provided by Maliwal and to determine the exact sequence of events.
