Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah Summoned by ED in JKCA Irregularities Case

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before them on February 13. The summons are part of the federal agency’s investigation into alleged irregularities in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) dating back to 2018.

The National Conference (NC) president has been asked to present himself at the ED’s office in Srinagar on Tuesday. The probe stems from an FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2018.

The investigation revolves around the misappropriation of funds allocated to the JKCA. During Farooq Abdullah’s tenure as the chairman of JKCA, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) provided development funds totaling Rs 112 Crores between 2001 and 2012.

The ED alleges that the funds allocated to the JKCA were diverted to personal bank accounts of unrelated parties, including office bearers of JKCA. Additionally, unexplained cash withdrawals from JKCA bank accounts are under scrutiny.

Farooq Abdullah, who is 86 years old, was charged by the central probe agency in 2022 in connection with this case.
