Drunk Man Vandalizes Ancient Idol in Jaipur Temple Over Wife’s Religious Fasting

A shocking incident unfolded in Punana village of Meena Ki Dhani, Jaipur, where a man, angered by his wife’s religious devotion and fasting habits, vandalized an ancient idol inside a temple. The accused, identified as Kamlesh Meena, was arrested, while police are on the lookout for his accomplice, Makhan Lal.

According to police sources, Kamlesh, under the influence of alcohol, stormed into the Kalu Baba temple on the night of February 8 and damaged a centuries-old idol. Eyewitnesses in the village reported the act, leading to immediate police intervention and Kamlesh’s subsequent arrest.

During interrogation, Kamlesh disclosed his motive for the act. He claimed that his wife’s frequent fasting and religious practices had created distance in their marital relationship, particularly affecting their intimacy. A comment from his friend, Makhan Singh, about his wife’s devotion further agitated him. Unable to contain his frustration, he decided to take drastic action against the temple.

The Kalu Baba temple, a significant religious site, attracts large gatherings, especially on Fridays. The incident has left the local community outraged, with residents demanding stringent action against those responsible for desecrating the sacred site.

While Kamlesh remains in police custody, authorities continue their search for the second suspect, Makhan Lal. The police have assured strict legal action against the perpetrators under relevant sections of the law concerning religious vandalism.

The incident has sparked discussions about personal beliefs, marital disputes, and the extent to which religious differences can impact relationships. Local authorities have urged the community to maintain peace while the investigation continues.
