Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has achieved a milestone by recording the highest-ever rating points tally by an Indian bowler, solidifying his position at the top of the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings. This achievement came after a stellar performance in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, where he claimed a nine-wicket match haul.
Bumrah, who has been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy) and the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award, has surpassed his previous career-high of 904 rating points, which he shared with Ravichandran Ashwin. His new tally of 907 rating points places him joint-17th in the all-time list, alongside former England spinner Derek Underwood.
The all-time ranking list is topped by England seamers Sydney Barnes (932) and George Lohmann (931), who played more than a century ago, with Pakistan’s Imran Khan (922) and Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan (920) in third and fourth place.
Meanwhile, Australia captain Pat Cummins has also made strides in the latest rankings. Cummins, who shares fifth place with Glenn McGrath with 914 rating points, has seen his ranking rise after leading Australia to victory in the fourth match of their ICC World Test Championship series against India in Melbourne.
