Following the monumental success of Jawan, acclaimed director Atlee is setting the stage for his next ambitious project, tentatively titled A6. The filmmaker has hinted at a “bang-on” announcement in the coming weeks and confirmed that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will play the lead role.
In an exciting development, Atlee is reportedly attempting to pull off a casting coup by roping in either Tamil cinema legends Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan for pivotal roles, aiming to create one of Indian cinema’s biggest spectacles.
Currently, Atlee is engrossed in his debut production Baby John, which is slated for a Christmas 2024 release. The film, starring Varun Dhawan, has already generated considerable buzz. During a recent conversation with Pinkvilla at a masterclass, Atlee was joined by his producer partner Murad Khetani and Varun Dhawan, who shared insights about the project.
When asked about A6, Atlee expressed his excitement, saying, “A6 is something that consumes a lot of time and energy. We have almost finished the script, and we are in the prep stage. Soon, a bang-on announcement will happen with God’s blessing.”
Speaking about Salman Khan’s involvement, Atlee offered a subtle confirmation, stating, “Definitely, I am going to surprise everyone with the casting. What you are thinking, yes (that’s true). But you are going to really get surprised. And I’m not being pompous, but it’s going to be the proudest film of our country. We want a lot of blessings, just pray for us. The casting is on the edge, and it’s going to happen in a few weeks. We will have the best, best, best announcement coming soon to you all.”
Varun Dhawan, who is leading Atlee’s production Baby John, couldn’t hide his enthusiasm for A6. He shared, “It’s going to be out of this world; people don’t know what’s going to hit them. I have heard and seen a little bit of visualisation. It’s unbelievable what he is putting together. He is working relentlessly, quietly and humbly.”
