Singer-composer Amaal Mallik has deleted his recent Instagram post in which he candidly spoke about his struggles with clinical depression and a strained relationship with his family. Following the post’s removal, Amaal issued a clarification, urging media outlets not to sensationalize his vulnerability or harass his family.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Amaal expressed gratitude for the support he received but requested that his personal struggles not be used for negative headlines. He reassured fans that his bond with his brother, Armaan Malik, remains intact despite the challenges. “I will always love my family, but for now, from afar. Nothing changes between us brothers, Armaan and I are one, and nothing can come between us. Love and peace,” he wrote.

In his now-deleted emotional post, Amaal had opened up about feeling unappreciated by his family despite dedicating a decade to the music industry and composing 126 songs. He attributed the growing distance between him and Armaan to their parents’ actions, stating that their interference had deeply affected his well-being, friendships, relationships, and self-worth. He revealed that these experiences had taken a toll on his mental health, leading to clinical depression.

“The journey has been terrific for both of us, but my parents’ actions have created a rift between me and my brother,” he had shared in the post. “Over the years, they have left no opportunity to disturb my well-being, belittle my relationships, and diminish my self-confidence. My self-worth has been eroded countless times by the actions of those closest to me, leaving deep scars on my heart.”

Amidst the controversy, Amaal’s mother, Jyothi Mallik, refrained from commenting extensively. In a brief statement, she said that whatever Amaal has shared is his personal choice.
