About 100 Schools Closed In Delhi Due To ‘Fake Bomb’ Threats

Following the fake bomb threats via email, thousands of students were evacuated from nearly 100 schools in and around Delhi, the capital of India.

Officials claim that it looks like the threats were a hoax. They also say that a search of the schools turned up nothing.

The threat emails’ source has been located, according to the police, and an investigation is currently underway.

People are asked to maintain their composure by Delhi Police and the federal home ministry.

The state’s constitutional head, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, of Delhi, announced that schools in Delhi and nearby suburbs that were threatened with bombs have been evacuated while search and rescue efforts are underway.

The city’s fire department reported that despite sending fire engines to the schools, their search turned up nothing.

“Dog squads, and bomb disposal units are also working,” Mr Saxena told local media. “I want to assure the people of Delhi that Delhi Police is fully prepared and we will try to prevent any untoward incident from happening.”

Mr. Saxena asked parents not to panic and to work with the administration “in ensuring safety of schools and the children” in a message he posted on X, the former Twitter.

Reporters were informed by a senior Delhi Police official that similar letters had also been received by several hospitals in the capital on Tuesday.

According to police public relations officer Suman Nalwa, it appeared that “someone had done this to create panic”.

Also Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi informed that the Delhi government was in touch with the police and school authorities and the situation was being monitored.
