India Slams Pakistan at UN Human Rights Council, Stresses Jammu & Kashmir’s Integral Status

India delivered a sharp rebuke to Pakistan during the seventh meeting of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, accusing its neighbor of spreading falsehoods and perpetuating instability. Kshitij Tyagi, from India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, criticized Pakistan for being a “failed state” reliant on international aid, highlighting the country’s ongoing attempts to discredit India with what he termed “falsehoods handed down by its military-terrorist complex.”

“It is regrettable to see Pakistan’s leaders and delegates continuing to spread falsehoods handed down by its military terrorist complex,” Tyagi stated. “Pakistan is making a mockery of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) by abusing it as its mouthpiece. It is unfortunate that this Council’s time continues to be wasted by a failed state which thrives on instability and survives on international handouts,” he added, underscoring India’s frustration with Pakistan’s consistent destabilizing rhetoric on the global stage.

The Indian diplomat reaffirmed India’s position on Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the region, along with Ladakh, will always remain an integral part of India. Tyagi pointed to the remarkable progress in both Union Territories, noting the political, social, and economic advancements made in the past few years as proof of the people’s trust in India’s governance. “The unprecedented political, social, and economic progress in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh speaks for itself. These successes are a testament to the people’s trust in the government’s commitment to bringing normalcy to a region scarred by decades of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism,” he remarked.

Tyagi also called on Pakistan to shift its focus from its “unhealthy obsession” with India and instead address the pressing issues affecting its own citizens. He emphasized that India remains focused on democracy, progress, and ensuring dignity for its people, values that he suggested Pakistan should learn from.

Tyagi’s comments echo those made earlier by India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, who, on February 19, reiterated India’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir during an Open Debate at the United Nations Security Council on multilateralism and global governance reform. Harish firmly stated, “The Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of Pakistan have referred to Jammu and Kashmir as an integral and inalienable part of India. I would like to reaffirm that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been, is, and will always be, an integral and inalienable part of India.”

India’s firm stand at the UN underscores its ongoing commitment to defending its territorial integrity, while continuing to call out Pakistan’s disruptive role in the region. Through these statements, India aims to not only address Pakistan’s unfounded claims but also promote a narrative of stability, progress, and unity within its own borders.
