‘If The Money Is Good Enough…’: Rahul Dravid Lays Down Condition For His Biopic

A biopic on legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has recently been announced, sparking widespread speculation about which actor will portray the celebrated allrounder on screen. Yuvraj’s illustrious career, marked by his pivotal role in India’s triumphs in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, makes his story a compelling subject for a cinematic adaptation.

In related news, another iconic figure in Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid, has been in the limelight following his recent achievement as head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. Dravid, often regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history, concluded his coaching tenure on a high note by guiding India to victory in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. The victory marked a fitting end to Dravid’s coaching journey, and the usually composed “Wall” of Indian cricket displayed rare emotion as he lifted the trophy.

Currently enjoying a well-deserved break, Dravid was recently honored with a lifetime achievement award at an event. During a Q&A session at the ceremony, the 51-year-old was asked who he would like to see play him if a biopic were made about his life. In a humorous response, Dravid quipped, “If the money is good enough, I’ll play it myself,” eliciting laughter from the audience.

Reflecting on his experience as India’s head coach during the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India, Dravid expressed how special it was to witness the passion of Indian cricket fans firsthand. “To travel all over this country and experience the joy and passion of the fans was phenomenal. I’ve never been a part of a World Cup as a player in India, but just the experience as a coach was incredible,” Dravid shared.

India’s campaign in the 2023 ODI World Cup was nothing short of remarkable, with the team winning nine consecutive matches to reach the final. However, in the title clash, they were defeated by Australia. Dravid graciously acknowledged the outcome, stating, “I thought we ran a phenomenal campaign. We came unstuck in the final, and Australia played better cricket than us on the day. They were a better team and congratulations to them. That can happen in sport, and that’s what sport is about.”
