Pune Porsche Crash: Blood Samples of Minor’s Friends Also Swapped, Prosecutor Reveals in Court

In a shocking revelation, the prosecution in the Kalyani Nagar Porsche crash case has accused six individuals, including the parents of the 17-year-old driver, of conspiring to replace blood samples to falsely show that the minor and his two friends were not intoxicated at the time of the accident. The crash resulted in the deaths of two IT professionals in the early hours of May 19.

Special prosecutor Shishir Hiray, opposing the bail applications of the accused, informed the sessions court that blood samples of the minor, identified as the driver, were replaced with those of his mother, Shivani Agarwal. The samples of his two friends were similarly tampered with, but due to complications in blood group matching and other factors, samples from other individuals were used instead.

The accused include the minor’s parents, Vishal and Shivani Agarwal, two doctors from the government-run Sassoon hospital—Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shreehari Halnor—and two alleged middlemen, Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad. The minor driver has already been released from the observation home by a High Court order.

According to the prosecution, Dr. Halnor, who was fully aware of the legal and forensic implications, was instrumental in the replacement of the blood samples. He allegedly received a payment of ₹2.5 lakh for his role in the conspiracy, which was orchestrated under the instructions of the Agarwals and Dr. Taware. The prosecutor cited statements from trainee doctors involved in the process, who were allegedly directed to use dry cotton instead of alcohol-dipped cotton to avoid any traces of alcohol in the samples.

Hiray pointed out that an eyewitness at the crash site observed that the minor driver appeared heavily intoxicated and was unable to stand when pulled out of the car. However, a preliminary medical report prepared by Dr. Halnor hours later indicated no alcohol consumption, raising suspicions of foul play.

The court proceedings, presided over by Additional Sessions Judge U. M. Mudholkar, are set to continue on Monday, with further arguments from the prosecution expected.
