Telugu actress Sowmya Janu has found herself in the midst of controversy following an altercation with a traffic police officer in Hyderabad. A video capturing the incident has gone viral, sparking outrage among netizens.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, February 24, in Banjara Hills, when Sowmya Janu, driving a Jaguar, was stopped by a traffic police officer for taking the wrong route. However, instead of cooperating with the official, the actress allegedly resorted to verbal abuse and physical assault.
In the circulated video, Sowmya Janu can be seen hurling abuses at the police official and reportedly tearing his clothes. Despite attempts by bystanders to intervene, the situation only escalated further, with the actress allegedly confiscating the officer’s phone.
According to reports, Sowmya Janu has been booked under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for assaulting a public servant and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA) for driving in the wrong direction.
As of now, Sowmya Janu has not issued any statement regarding the incident. However, on social media platforms, there has been a surge in demands for strict action to be taken against the actress.
