A shocking incident has emerged from Ulhasnagar in Thane district, where a 38-year-old man allegedly caused the death of his 3-year-old niece by slapping her. The man, identified as the child’s uncle, reportedly attempted to burn her body to destroy evidence and later dumped it in nearby bushes.
The tragedy unfolded on November 18 when the child was reported missing. After an extensive search, police discovered her partially burnt body near a local police station on November 21. The accused was apprehended following a police investigation using inputs and human intelligence.
According to Hill Line Police Station’s Senior Inspector Anil Jagtap, the uncle admitted during interrogation that the incident occurred unintentionally. He claimed that while playing with the girl, he jokingly slapped her. The force allegedly caused her to collide with a kitchen slab, resulting in her death.
Overcome by fear, the man reportedly tried to cover up the incident by burning the body and discarding it in bushes near the police station.
The case has sparked widespread outrage, with locals demanding justice for the young girl. Police have taken the accused into custody and are investigating further. Authorities have assured strict action against the offender under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
