11-Year-Old Delhi Boy Drowns In Swimming Pool, Family Protests

In the Alipur neighborhood of outer-north Delhi, an 11-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool maintained by the wives of two police officers, according to the police.
According to police, the boy’s family staged a protest outside the Alipur Police Station on Wednesday, accusing the incident of foul play.
Although investigations are ongoing, they have not yet revealed any evidence of foul play.

According to Ravi Singh, the deputy commissioner of police for the outer north, a case has been filed under section 304A, which deals with death by negligence.

The incident happened on May 14 while the boy, his father, and other teenagers were swimming in the pool, according to another officer.

According to the officer, the father noticed his son was motionless in the deep end of the pool when he returned from answering an emergency call. He said that after the boy was taken to a nearby hospital, the staff there pronounced him dead.

According to the officer, relatives of the victim demonstrated outside Alipur Police Station, claiming that the boy’s death was the result of foul play. Although the investigation has not yet turned up any evidence of foul play, he noted that the pool is being operated in a “unauthorized manner.”
