Yuvraj Singh: Asked Ashish Nehra For A Job At GT But He Declined

Yuvraj Singh, a former all-rounder for India, has stated that he was not given a position on the Gujarat Titans roster. While expressing his desire to coach an Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Yuvraj disclosed that he attempted to approach Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra about a position with the team, but the latter turned him down. In the past, Yuvraj was a star in the Indian Premier League. He played for franchises like Punjab Kings (previously named Kings XI Punjab), Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. In 132 IPL matches, the southpaw scored 2,750 runs, with a career-high score of 83.

“My kids come first for the time being, but let’s see what opportunities present themselves. When school starts, I’ll have more time. so that I may begin (coaching). I love working with the young guys, especially my state boys, and I feel that mentoring is something that I would love to do, and definitely to be part of one of the IPL teams, I’m definitely looking at,” said Yuvraj as quoted by PTI.

“Ashish Nehra of the Gujarat Titans turned down my request for a job. I have to balance right now, so let’s see where else I can get a job.” He said. โ€œI want to give back to cricket in the upcoming years and assist the young players get better. I can contribute a lot,” he added

The World Cup-winning hero Yuvraj also alluded to a future coaching role that could help the Indian cricket team mentally prepare its players for the challenges that lie ahead.

India has been waiting a lifetime to win an ICC trophy after losing to Australia in the 2023 World Cup final the previous year.

Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India won the Champions Trophy in 2013, but their last World Cup victory was in 2011.
