WPL 2024 Final: RCB Clinch Maiden Title With 8-Wkt Win Over DC

Women’s Premier League 2024 final saw Royal Challengers Bangalore defeat Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to win the title at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. DC was bowled out for 113 in 18.3 overs while batting first. To the dismay of the weekend supporters of the home team, RCB managed to reach the target of 114 with three balls remaining.

DC were cruising at 64 for no loss in 43 balls with Shafali Verma (44 off 27 balls) in fine form when they committed harakiri, losing 10 wickets for just 49 runs. Following Shafali’s exploits at the top of the order, spinners Sophie Molineux (3/20) and Shreyanka Patil (4/12) helped RCB mount a stunning comeback.

RCB claimed their first-ever trophy in T20 cricket. Skipper Smriti Mandhana played the role of an anchor while superstar Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten to seal a famous win for Bangalore. Perry scored 35 off 37 balls in the final against DC and takes home a prize money of Rs 5 lakh as she won the orange cap.

Shreyanka also claimed the top spot on the Purple Cap standings. Shreyanka bagged 13 wickets in the WPL 2024 season. The RCB spinner has received Rs 5 lakh as prize money.

RCB received Rs 6 crore as prize money, while DC earned Rs 3 crore for finishing runners-up.
