Woman Rescued After Alleged 12-Year Confinement by Husband in Mysuru

In a shocking incident, a woman identified as Suma in her early thirties was rescued by the police after reportedly being locked in a room for nearly 12 years by her husband, Sannalaiah, a daily-wage worker in Karnataka’s Mysuru.

According to a media report, while the police state that Suma was confined for a few weeks, she claims that her captivity began immediately after her marriage to Sannalaiah 12 years ago.

Suma revealed distressing details of her ordeal, stating that she used a small box at home for toilet breaks and her children would wait outside the house after school until her husband returned from work to unlock the door. She would then provide them with food through a window.

“It’s been 12 years since I got married. He always locked me up in the house and tortured me. Nobody in the area would question him… My children go to school. But they remain outside until my husband comes back from work. I would give them food through the window,” Suma told India Today.

The woman, who is allegedly the third wife of the accused, shares two children with him. Despite the harrowing circumstances, Suma has reportedly refused to file a complaint against her husband. The police have intervened in the matter, rescuing Suma and sending her to her parents’ home. Investigations into the case are ongoing, and authorities are looking into the allegations of prolonged confinement and abuse. The accused, Sannalaiah, could potentially face legal consequences for his actions.
