A shocking incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district as a woman stands accused of torturing her husband, leading to her arrest by Seohara district police on May 5th. Identified as Mehar Jahan, she allegedly drugged her husband, Manan Zaidi, tied his hands and legs, and proceeded to burn his body parts with a cigarette, according to the victim’s complaint.
CCTV footage obtained by the authorities revealed disturbing scenes of physical assault and attempted strangulation perpetrated by Mehar Jahan against her husband. The video evidence also captured the horrifying act of burning Zaidi’s body parts with a cigarette.
Superintendent of Police Dharampal Singh confirmed the arrest, stating, “Based on the complaint, the police have registered a report against the accused woman under relevant sections and arrested her. Further action is being taken.”
This ordeal isn’t the first instance of abuse reported by Zaidi. Earlier, he had filed a police complaint accusing his wife of subjecting him to abuse and administering intoxicants.
In response to these grave accusations, a case has been registered against Mehar Jahan under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including attempt to murder, assault, and torture. She has since been taken into custody pending further legal proceedings.
The incident has sparked outrage and drawn attention to the urgent need for addressing domestic violence and ensuring the safety of individuals within their own homes.
