Will Resign In Two Days: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

After being granted bail by the Supreme Court, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed party workers on Sunday, announcing his decision to resign from his position in two days.

Kejriwal, who leads the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), called for elections to be held in November, coinciding with the Maharashtra elections, instead of the scheduled February date. Until the elections, he stated that another party member would assume the role of Chief Minister. A meeting of the MLAs will be convened within the next 2-3 days to select the new Chief Minister.

He clarified that Manish Sisodia would not be taking over the position, emphasizing that he and Sisodia would focus on connecting directly with the people. Kejriwal also criticized the BJP, claiming that their attempts to undermine AAP’s resolve had failed.

In response to the BJP’s call for his resignation while in jail, Kejriwal explained that he chose not to resign to uphold the Constitution of India and to counter the BJP’s strategy. He highlighted the Supreme Court’s stance, which demonstrated that a government could indeed function from jail, thereby challenging the central government’s assumptions.
