Virat Kohli Urges Broadcasters to Focus on Cricket, Not His Favorite Chole-Bhature Spot

Virat Kohli has made it clear that he prefers cricket discussions over conversations about his food preferences. Speaking at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit, the Indian cricket star urged broadcasters to focus on the game rather than his favorite eateries.

“A broadcast show should be about the sport, not what I had for lunch or where I like to eat chole-bhature in Delhi. That doesn’t belong in a cricket match. Instead, the discussion should be about what an athlete is going through,” Kohli emphasized.

Renowned for his dedication to fitness, the 36-year-old follows a strict diet and rarely indulges in his favorite foods to maintain peak physical condition. Though he is nearing the latter stages of his career, Kohli assured fans that he has no plans to retire just yet.

“Don’t worry, I’m not making any announcements. As of now, everything is fine. I still love playing the game,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to cricket.

Kohli, a key figure in India’s four ICC title wins at the senior level, is thrilled about cricket’s return to the Olympics at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. He believes the IPL has played a significant role in making this a reality.

“Winning an Olympic gold would be an incredible achievement. The IPL has definitely contributed to cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics. It’s an exciting opportunity for our players,” he said.

Highlighting the significance of both men’s and women’s teams competing side by side, Kohli even joked about a potential comeback if India reaches the gold medal match.

“For the Olympics, who knows? If we’re playing for the gold medal, I might just sneak in for one game, grab a medal, and come back home,” he quipped, adding that cricket’s Olympic inclusion is a major milestone for the sport.
