Two Flights Ferrying 33 Illegal Migrants From Gujarat Land at Ahmedabad

Under the Trump administration, the US launched a crackdown on illegal immigration, leading to the deportation of 332 Indians over the past 12 days, in three separate phases, including 74 Gujaratis.

On Sunday, 112 Indian deportees, including 33 Gujaratis, arrived in Amritsar. The following day, 33 Gujaratis were flown to Ahmedabad in two separate flights. Among them were 11 children, with eight under the age of 10.

Airport Police Station Inspector SG Khambhla stated that upon arrival at Ahmedabad airport, the 33 deportees, including children, were quickly transported to their native destinations in Gujarat by police vehicles.

The first group of deportees, consisting of three individuals—two from Mehsana and one from Gandhinagar—arrived at around noon on Monday. They were followed by 30 others on a second flight around 2 pm. Police vehicles were stationed at the airport to ensure the prompt transportation of the deportees.

One of the deportees, Khushboo Patel, was escorted by Vadodara police to Padra and then to her home in Luna village. Her father was overcome with emotion upon seeing her, while her parents expressed immense joy. Khushboo’s brother shared that she, along with others, had been handcuffed and treated like a prisoner during the flight from Amritsar. Khushboo had traveled to the US via Europe before being deported.

On February 16, a flight carrying eight deportees from Gujarat, part of a group of 116 Indians deported from the US for illegal immigration, arrived at Ahmedabad airport from Amritsar. The group was quickly taken to their respective hometowns in police vehicles.

This followed a similar incident on February 6, when a flight brought 33 Gujarati deportees, part of a group of 104 Indians, back to Ahmedabad. From there, they were swiftly transported to Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Patan, and other districts.
