Trump Set to Meet PM Modi During US Visit, Says ‘He Is A Fantastic Man’

Former US President Donald Trump announced he will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Modi’s upcoming three-day visit to the United States from September 21-23. Speaking at his first public appearance following an apparent assassination attempt, Trump praised Modi as a “fantastic man,” adding, “He happens to be coming to meet me next week… a lot of these leaders are fantastic.”

Prime Minister Modi’s visit includes participation in the Quad Leaders’ Summit alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, hosted by President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware. Modi will then travel to New York, where he will address a community event in Long Island on September 22, followed by a speech at the Summit of the Future event at the UN headquarters on September 23.

Modi’s US visit comes at a pivotal time, less than two months before the US presidential elections on November 5, where Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris are among the key contenders. As anticipation builds, the global political landscape has been shifting, with Modi being named the most popular leader globally earlier this month. According to a survey by Morning Consult, a global decision intelligence firm, Modi’s approval rating stood at 69%, ahead of other world leaders like Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (63%) and US President Joe Biden.

The visit is expected to focus on strengthening India-US relations, with significant global and regional topics to be discussed.
