Three College Students Arrested for Alleged Murder of Friend in Noida Party Brawl

In a tragic turn of events, Uttar Pradesh’s Noida witnessed the arrest of three college students for their purported involvement in the killing of their friend during a party brawl. The victim, identified as Yash Mittal, a 20-year-old pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at a Greater Noida university, was reported missing from his hostel on Monday.

The investigation unfolded after Yash’s father, Deepak Mittal, approached the police upon receiving ransom demands amounting to Rs 6 crore for his son’s release. Police scrutiny of CCTV footage from Yash’s university campus and examination of his call records revealed crucial leads.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Saad Miya Khan, Yash was last seen leaving the campus on Monday while engaged in a phone conversation. Further investigation led to the identification of suspects, including Yash’s friend Rachit Nagar, who disclosed details about a party in Gajraula, Amroha, where Mittal was last seen.

The suspects, identified as Rachit Nagar, Shivam Singh, Shubham Singh, Sushant Verma, and Shubham Chaudhary, reportedly engaged in a confrontation with Yash during the party, resulting in his tragic demise. Subsequently, his body was buried in a farmland in Gajraula.

The motive behind the altercation stemmed from Yash’s remarks about his friends’ financial status, allegedly stating that they were “surviving and having parties on his money,” as per a police source familiar with the investigation.

Following leads, the police apprehended the accused in Greater Noida’s Dadri area, where a confrontation ensued, resulting in injuries to the suspects. One of the accused, Shubham Chaudhary, remains at large, with ongoing efforts to apprehend him.

In a bid to mislead authorities and the victim’s family, the accused sent ransom messages, falsely indicating Yash’s abduction. The police have filed two FIRs against the suspects, one for murder, criminal conspiracy, and evidence destruction, and another related to an attempt to murder and violations under the Arms Act.
