Terrorists Abduct Two Jawans in J&K’s Anantnag; One Escapes, Other Found Dead, Search Operation Underway

In a tragic development, two jawans of the Territorial Army were abducted in the forest area of Anantnag district, according to sources quoted by news agency ANI. While one of the jawans managed to escape and return, the second jawan was found dead following an intense search operation in the region.

The abduction triggered a large-scale search effort by security forces, who combed through the dense forests to locate the missing soldier. Tragically, the body of the jawan was discovered later, deepening concerns about the safety of armed forces personnel in the region.

The incident has raised alarms in the already volatile region, which has seen heightened insurgency activities. Security forces are maintaining a high alert in Anantnag and surrounding areas, with operations continuing to prevent further incidents.

In a separate incident, two terrorists were neutralized by Indian security forces on October 5, during an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps confirmed the elimination of the terrorists and reported the recovery of war-like stores from the encounter zone.

The operation was launched when troops spotted suspicious movement near Gugaldhar in Kupwara, leading to a gunfight. The Army is continuing its vigil along the LoC to thwart any further infiltration attempts.

The recent incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region, particularly with increased terrorist activities and infiltration bids along the LoC.

Further investigations into both incidents are ongoing as the situation remains tense across Jammu and Kashmir.
