Teenager’s Mother Arrested for Tampering Evidence in Pune Porsche Accident Case

Shivani Agarwal, the mother of the 17-year-old accused in the fatal Porsche accident case in Pune, has been arrested for evidence tampering. The arrest follows the revelation that the teenager’s blood sample, crucial for an alcohol test, had been replaced with that of a woman at Sassoon General Hospital. Speculation arose that the substituted sample might belong to his mother, prompting her to go incommunicado.

Sources confirmed that Shivani Agarwal has been apprehended on charges of tampering with evidence and being present at the hospital during the blood sample collection. She is scheduled for interrogation at 11:30 am today.

Earlier, Shivani Agarwal’s statement was recorded by the Pune crime branch at her residence. The crime branch has also summoned and questioned several nurses from Sassoon General Hospital regarding the blood sample swap.

A report submitted by Sassoon hospital doctors to the probe panel on May 29 revealed that the Maharashtra medical education (MME) department formed an investigative committee on May 27. The committee, led by Dr. Pallavi Sapale, dean of Mumbai-based Grants Medical College, was established after police reported that the teenager’s original blood samples had been discarded and replaced with another person’s, which showed no traces of alcohol.

In connection with the incident, police have arrested Dr. Ajay Taware, head of the hospital’s forensic medicine department, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shrihari Halnor, and staff member Atul Ghatkamble.

The case stems from a tragic accident in the early hours of May 19 in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area, where a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by the intoxicated 17-year-old son of builder Vishal Agarwal, collided with a motorcycle. The accident resulted in the deaths of two IT professionals in their 20s.
